National Foundation for Woman Legislators Visits High Level Health
The High Level Health team recently had the pleasure, in conjunction with Weedmaps and The National Foundation for Woman Legislators (NFWL), of providing legislators from around the country with the opportunity to see how a legal dispensary operates first hand and to learn more about Colorado’s legal cannabis market.
NFWL & The Evolution of Marijuana Policy Summit
The National Foundation of Woman Legislators (NFWL) is a group that works to provide strategic resources to women who work in the US Government. They have been empowering women in government through experience and information since 1938.
About 30 legislators were in Denver this August to attend the “Evolution of Marijuana Policy Summit”, hosted by NFWL. This was the first marijuana-centric Summit that NFWL has hosted. According to their site, this summit was put on in an effort “to address a critical state policy issue that is unfolding in real-time in legislatures across the country. By bringing together a group of 30 elected women who are considering legalization in their state or municipality, or in states where legalization has already been established, we provided an opportunity to connect and learn from one another and experts from all facets of the industry.”
The Summit held a variety of presentations on topics ranging from marijuana policy, cannabis usage, health risks and benefits, and public safety. Each one of the presentations featured a notable speaker – including Rep. Lois Landgraf from the CO State Legislature, Government Relations Representatives of Weedmaps, former Colorado Attorney General Stanley Garnett, and more. There were State Representatives, Assembly Women, and Senators in attendance from both the Republican and Democratic Party.
High Level Health & The Marijuana Policy Summit
When Weedmaps approached us and asked if we would be willing to provide a dispensary tour for visiting legislators, we could not have been happier to jump on the opportunity. At High Level Health, we embrace any occasion which allows us to aid in the de-stigmatization of cannabis across the nation.
Most of the 30 Summit Attendees made the trip over to our High Level Health Lincoln location in order to learn more about the dispensing process. This provided the legislators with the opportunity to connect directly with our employees and to ask us any questions they might have.
Visiting in smaller groups allowed each legislator to really soak in the dispensary experience. We found that most of their questions were about the differences in Medical and Recreational, industry regulations, and the cannabis products themselves. A handful even made purchases! It was a treat to get to share our experiences, challenges, and love of cannabis with those who are directly involved with lawmaking in other states. We thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and we could not have been happier to be involved. Thank you Weedmaps and NFWL for providing us this opportunity and thank you to all of the legislators who paid us a visit!
