Colorado is heading into its fourth year of legalized recreational marijuana sales and regulations are still evolving by the day. Keeping up with Colorado recreational marijuana laws can be a dizzying task and there are those who still don’t fully understand how recreational marijuana works in the state. So before you head to High Level Health to grab a bag, here’s a primer on what you need to know to legally purchase the best marijuana strains in Colfax (or the strongest strains in Lincoln!)
Who Can Buy?
Anyone over the age of 21 can purchase cannabis legally from a licensed dispensary provided they have a valid ID issued by any state in the U.S.
How Much?
As of June 2016, anyone of age (whether a Colorado resident or visitor from another U.S. state) can purchase and possess up to one of the following:
- 1 ounce of cannabis flower
- 8 grams of concentrate
- 800 mg of edibles
Mixing and matching is allowed if you’re careful with the math. For example, you can purchase ½ oz. of flower, 2 g of concentrate and 200 mg of edibles to vary it up the whole month.
Where?
Anyone of age can use cannabis in a private residence. As of today, you cannot consume marijuana in public either outdoors or indoors. However, select municipalities (including Denver) are accepting “social consumption permits” which will someday allow indoor consumption.
Note: As cannabis is still illegal on a federal level, DO NOT carry ANY amount onto federal land. This includes national parks, forests, monuments, courthouses and some ski areas.
Can I Resell It To My Friends?
NO! Sale of any amount without a permit is still illegal. Selling more than 4oz is a felony and can even include substantial jail time. But, you may gift up to the possession limit (flower, concentrates or edibles) to a friend.
Can I Drive With Cannabis?
You can drive with marijuana products in the vehicle as long as the packages are sealed and there is no smoking paraphernalia present.
You cannot consume cannabis products before or while driving. Doing so can subject you to penalties equal to a DUI violation.
If you’re driving with cannabis, DO NOT cross the state line! It is against federal law to leave Colorado with any marijuana products.
These are the most important factors to consider before buying cannabis from High Level Health.
