How Much Marijuana Can You Buy at a Colorado Dispensary?

Colorado has recently led the way in legalizing cannabis for recreational use. The medical marijuana industry in the state has also paved new ground, and both have been an example to the rest of the country as to the benefits provided to the state and its residents.

Common Questions about Purchasing Marijuana in Colorado

We here at High Level Health are regularly asked by our customers and patients alike a ton of questions regarding the limits and restrictions on cannabis and cannabis products, and we are happy to shed some light on the subject. Colorado has a lot of legal cannabis laws regarding Denver recreational marijuana purchases, and with our dispensaries in Colfax and Lincoln, we want to make sure everyone is aware of and following these laws. Some of the most commonly asked questions are:

How Much Can I Purchase at a Time?

The restrictions on purchase amount are slightly different for Medical and Recreational cannabis. As of June 2016, any adult 21 years of age or older may purchase up to 28 grams or one ounce of flower, up to 8 grams of concentrates, or 800mg of edibles per transaction, per day. There is also an equivalency law for recreational purchases in regards to the products that are not flower (1 gram of concentrate equals 3.5g of flower and 100mg of edibles equals the same amount). Medical patients with a valid card may purchase up to 56 grams or 2 ounces of flower, with no equivalency restrictions, and 1 gram of concentrate and 100mg if edible both equal 1 gram of flower.

How Much Can I possess at once?

Any adult may possess up to 28 grams or one ounce of flower and no open containers of marijuana in your vehicle including a plastic bag.

Where Can I Use It?

Marijuana consumption is treated very similar to alcohol in that you cannot consume any form of it publicly or in a vehicle and DUI laws very much apply (a common misconception). It is intended to be consumed privately regardless of it being recreational or medicinal.

Choosing a Strain

When picking out a strain of cannabis a few things to consider are first and foremost Indica(relaxing) or Sativa (alert and uplifting). Aside from that taste, smell, and structure are all a personal preference.
